Table Tennis brings nations together..

Table Tennis is not just a sport but also a means to connect people and this time even nations.

Sydney MP and tennis great John Alexander has brought representatives from the world's top table tennis nations to Parliament House in Canberra for a display match designed to promote community and regional ties.

Sounds great !!!

Like cricket is worshiped in India on similar lines people are passionate about Table Tennis in Asian powers like China, Japan and Korea. Though they just don't follow it blindly forgetting about the other sports as we do in India.

Connecting cultures through sports is a great initiative..thumbs up.:)

Mystery behind choosing the first Table Tennis Racket

Choosing the right Table Tennis Racket ( Also known was bat or paddle) is the first and most important step for a novice player.
Nothing confuses a new ping pong player more than trying to decide what their first serious bat should be like as it can make or break your game.

Rate of improvement of your game is directly proportional to the quality of your racket.
The most important part of the racket is the rubber which is present on its both sides.
The main use of the rubber is to generate different levels of spin and speed, or in some cases to nullify the spin.

Lets ponder upon different points that should be kept in mind before choosing the best paddle-:

1. Don't buy a bat which has rubbers already applied on it. A ready to use bat can have old stock which won't yield good performance nor will be worth the money paid for it.

2. First real step is to decide on the blade you are going to use. A blade shouldn't be too fast nor too slow as you are in your learning phase. There are different reputable manufacturers like Butterfly, Stiga, Donic and Joola which provides world class all round blades.

3. Next is the grip type you want to use. There are different types like Shakehand, Penholder and Seemiller. It's very important to choose the right grip which suites your technique as your are going to use it throughout your playing career.

4. Now comes the rubber which you are going to have on your paddle. Usually the type of rubber to be used depends upon the style of your game , either aggressive or defensive.
For the beginners smooth rubbers on both the sides is recommended. Don't go for pimpled rubber with or without sponge as they are more specialized and used by experienced players.
Attacking rubbers like Sriver from butterfly and Mark V from Yasaka in a thin sponge are the best options available. It gives you good control on the ball, while still allowing you to develop your own game.

5. Don't shell a lot to get the high technology blades and rubber when choosing your first paddle. Keep it simple and serviceable.$100 is more than enough to start with,

6. When you get your blade and rubber ask an experienced player to glue them together and show to you how to use it properly.

7. Always buy blade and rubber from a reputed sports shop or online store who have ample variety and stock available with them.

8. Everything needs a cover and so is your racket. Always store it in a cover to protect it from liquids, sunlight , dust and dirt.
